This list contains important questions you should ask a DJ before hiring their service. This by no means is a final list, since you may have other questions I have not listed. You've probably noticed most other DJ services list frequently asked questions. I have tried not to be to redundant.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What geographical area do you usually cover?
I typically play events in Baltimore, MD and surrounding counties. I have on occasion played parties in southern Pennsylvania, Delaware, No. Virginia, No. West Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Can I see you perform?
Surely, if I am performing at a public event, but most events I perform are private parties. Please check my references for additional information.

Do you have references?
I have included references on this website. For privacy I list only the client's first name and first initial of their last name. Please contact KnightNoise DJs for a list of recommendations from previous customers.

What type of equipment do you carry?
I carry only professional quality sound equipment and lighting (Crown, JBL, Rane, American DJ, Visiosonic PCDJ FX, Maxtor HDs, etc.). For a complete list of equipment and features, please access Equipment. I carry backup equipment (Dual CD player, Mixer, Amplifier, and Speakers), assorted fuses, speaker cables, interconnect cables, and even a tool box. All equipment and lighting are in excellent working order and are tested before leaving the office.

What time will you arrive for my event?
I typically arrive 1.5 - 2 hours before the event. This allows time for unloading, setup, sound check, and lighting check.

Will I get examples of your music? Do you play requests?
As far as examples, included under Songs & Charts are: the current month top 10 charts from Billboard, and PromoOnly, 200 most requested songs chart, as well as a database of songs carried by Knight Noise DJ Service. Yes, I accept requests from you the client and also from your guests if that's what you require. I send samples of music lists from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, country, christian and most current hits.

What type of music format do you use?
In June 2003, I began using MP3 and PCDJ Red for all my music entertainment. All MP3 recording have been ripped at a sampling rate of 160 Hz or better to ensure the best possible sound quality. I have mirror image backup hard drives and I also carry backup commercial CDs to all my events.

What happens if you don't have my song?
If I don't have your song, I'll get it before the date of your event (I can guarantee the song(s) is requested at least 3 weeks prior to the date of the event).

Can you play my CD's?
Sure, I'll play music from your CD's, but I don't recommend it. You usually have more things on your mind than worrying about whether the DJ has returned your CD(s).

Is your music library large enough to handle my requests?
Some DJ's boast about having tens of thousands of songs. Remember, you can only squeeze 10-15 current songs or 20-25 oldies into a one hour period. I have a substantial music library for your requests, but I also believe in quality (having the RIGHT songs).

How do you dress for the party?
If the event is formal, I wear a tuxedo. Otherwise, I wear what has been recommended by the client.

Do you have liability insurance?
Yes. I carry liability insurance in the event any of your guests getting injured because of my negligence.

Do you work overtime?
Yes, my overtime rate is $75.00 for each additional one half hour. I recommend booking the additional hour(s) when the contract is agreed upon. Otherwise, I cannot guarantee I will be available for overtime work because of other engagements.

How do I reserve KnightNoise DJs for my next event?
Either e-mail, use the online request form, or call KnightNoise DJs direct. I will respond to you within 24 hours. I will send you a written contract within 3 days of our initial contact. A $150.00 deposit, payable within 10 days upon receiving the contract, is required to hold your date. After the deposit is received, I will call to set up a meeting to discuss your event and also leave you my cell phone number for emergencies. About 4-6 weeks before your event I will make an appointment to discuss your musical preferences. The final balance is due 17 days prior to your event, and may be in either cash or check.
